Over the last decade I have supported over 150 births and have provided in home care for nearly 200 families during their fourth trimester (the first 3 months after baby arrives).

I have witnessed countless fertility journeys, prenatal experiences, birthing processes, and ways to feed babies. Through providing evidence-based resources and care, my goal is to help folks navigate their options and work to build trusting relationships with their providers. I have helped families feel competent amidst their many prenatal decisions, and have supported them in building a strong container for nourishment + support as they heal from birth and adjust to life with a new baby.

While each pregnancy, labor, and newborn is different, there are foundational threads that connect each of these experiences. This is what I believe every new family deserves to learn as they prepare themselves for such a big life transition.

From holistic prenatal health strategies, birth education and navigating a positive relationship with your medical team, to preparing for life with a newborn and understanding what baby items you actually need, as your perinatal educator I am here to answer all of your questions so that you can feel confident through this transition into new parenthood.

Darcie's support began long before my pregnancy journey. She was an invaluable resource as she patiently guided me through the intricacies of fertility, empowering me to understand my body and ovulation cycle. Once I conceived, which was a journey she supported me in, she was a constant source of reassurance with her guidance and unwavering support. Darcie always answered my endless questions and empowered me to advocate for the birth experience I desired. There were so many things I didn't understand about timelines, inductions, natural ways to go into labor, etc. where Darcie came to the rescue. I can't thank her enough for her wisdom and for being there every step of the way for me and even my husband as we went through our 2+ year journey with her.

Customizable Support

During our initial consult, we will be able to identify what topics you're interested in learning more about (based on a list I will offer you ahead of time), what your goals and values are as you prepare for your birth and life with a new baby, and we will create a customized plan for our future sessions. Most families benefit from 8-9 prenatal sessions and 1-2 postpartum sessions, but you have the flexibility and freedom to structure your support in whatever way feels best.

Darcie was my ride-or-die throughout my fertility journey, from planning to pregnancy through postpartum. Her depth of knowledge is unparalleled and I could always trust that her guidance was medically informed but delivered like a warm hug. Having continuity of care throughout the stages of fertility is surprisingly hard to find - with specialists focusing only on fertility or birth or postpartum - and yet it’s so important. By the time I was pregnant Darcie knew me so well she could provide guidance that aligned with my preferences medically/holistically. Most of all, having Darcie come and stay with us postpartum was a highlight. By that point it was like having a good friend or family member stay and care for us in the early days of parenthood. She cooked healing meals, answered a hundred million questions, and grounded us during such a vulnerable and emotional time. We live in the Bay Area where there’s no shortage of doulas and fertility specialists, but Darcie’s knowledge and expertise is hands down the best. I feel so lucky to have had her support throughout my fertility journey.

In-home Support

To enhance the support you receive postpartum, I may be able to travel to you for in-home support for a week at a time. Because we will have already developed a relationship through your prenatal sessions, I will be able to seamlessly fit into your postpartum healing process by understanding your prenatal/birth experiences and your family's needs. Through meal planning and preparation, you will have the ability to focus solely on your baby and yourselves, while I focus on your nourishment (and keeping the kitchen clean). Meanwhile, I will tend to the laundry (it's amazing how much a newborn produces), walk the dog or run errands, and can provide newborn support so that you can rest. Providing in-home care allows opportunities for you to ask questions and gain insight/skills as a new parent. My goal is to support and nourish you in ways that allows you to support and nourish your new baby.

My wife found Darcie early on in our fertility journey and she guided us through pregnancy, birth planning, and postpartum. With all the twists and turns that fertility and parenthood pose, we were so lucky to have Darcie to guide us through decisions, and educate us on what to expect next. Once our baby arrived, Darcie flew out to stay with us for a week. She brought a reassuring presence to the uncharted waters of parenting, and cared and cooked for us. She integrated into our household seamlessly and it felt great to have her around - in fact we pleaded with her not to leave! Nothing could’ve fully prepared us for parenthood, but Darcie came as close as one can get.

Some families will continue our consults through the first few months postpartum, while others have planned multiple in-home visits for a week at a time with continued postpartum consults during the weeks in between.
